Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University established in the year 1958, is a higher
education institution located in the large city of Daqing, Heilongjiang. It’s officially accredited/recognized by the Department of Education, Heilongjiang Province, China. It was founded by General Wang Zhen, the former vice president of China. HBAU is a co-educational higher
education institution which offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher
education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Today, it has become a multidisciplinary comprehensive agricultural university, which consists of agronomy, engineering, management, science, law, literature and economics, all of disciplines that are able to complement each other in coordinated development.
HBAU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services. At present, HBAU is undertaking 730 scientific research projects at different levels. HBAU provides nine provincial level key undergraduate programs, twenty two provincial level research centers in different fields with over all 43 undergraduate majors, doctoral, master grant. The National Research Center for Coarse
Cereal Processing is also located in the university. Currently, HBAU has the student enrollment of about 15,000 students including about 1000 postgraduate students. There are 1431 faculty members, including 149 professors and 231 associate professors with 20-25 different disciplines. The university has established a stable exchange and cooperation
relationship with overseas universities and research institutes from many countries, including: Russia, South Korea, Canada, Ukraine, America, and Australia.
HBAU has contributed several great distinguished researchers with the global rank 6825 comparing with universities present around the globe. The university has been leading the study and research of the basic theory, and application of the future
agriculture research and accumulated massive resource material and rich research experience of zoology, botany and farm machinery equipment’s for the Modernized Agriculture, formed a series of characteristics research achievement, for example, “ Study on the Theory and Technology of Three-Ridge Mechanization Soybean Cultivation” has obtained a universal approval and widely been put into practice in the national soybean production areas. The scientific and technological station of post doctors of Beidahuang Reclamation Group of Heilongjiang Province was set up in this university which symbolizes the close combination at a high level between the scientific and research of the university and the economic construction of state farms in Heilongjiang province.

genetics and genomics, evolution,
physiology and immunology, development. Zhang was affiliated to HBAU during his graduation.
