Fundamental Sciences Research Institute

The Fundamental Sciences Research Institute (TBAE) was established in 1968 under the name of Applied Mathematics Unit. TBAE was renamed as TBAE with the decision taken by the TUBITAK Science Committee in June 1981 and has become an institute. The aim of the institute was defined with the Regulation of TÜBÄ°TAK TBAE accepted in April 1982 “to put forward, to analyze or to help solve the problems of fundemental and applied research in the field of fundemental sciences.”
According to the protocol between the Fundamental Sciences Research Institute and Bosphorus University in 1996, mathematics and physics departments of the institute moved to Bosphorus University Kandilli Campus. The institute moved back to the Gebze Campus by the decision of the TUBITAK Science Committee in 2011 and currently continues to work as an institution under TUBITAK BILGEM.
TBAE aims to raise the level of scientific research especially in fundemental sciences, mathematics and physics in our country, to give the lead to all research institutions and the institutes working in the basic sciences in Turkey. For this purpose, an environment where our people in high-level mathematics and physics sciences work together has been planned.
Thus it will be possible for our people to make research, to initiate joint scientific studies and to interact with each other and also with foreign counterparts by using the facilities of the institute. TBAE is home to advanced-level courses, seminars, workshops, research sessions and many scientific meetings. Especially young scientists and doctoral students participate in these meetings. So that researchers can find the opportunity to meet new and current scientific problems. As a result of the activities carried out, scientific publications at the international level are expected. TBAE with its rich library and large computer network aims to make collaborative scientific research with the world’s leading scientific research institutions.
