Fort Valley State University (FVSU) is a black university which is located at Fort Valley, GA, USA. It was established in 1895. Coming to its academics, it provides
education for more than 4,000 students in various fields. Both under-graduate and graduate programs are offered in various disciplines. Of all the departments, College of Arts and Sciences is the oldest academic units and holds maximum percent of courses taught and offers a variety of programs especially in traditional subjects’ viz., biology, computer science, psychology, chemistry,
sociology etc. Another department is College of
Education offers various under-graduate and graduate
education training programs in various sectors including special education, MAT degree in secondary teaching, consumer sciences
education and so on. Last department to be known is College of Agriculture,
Family Sciences and Technology. Coming to student activities, they are given with wide prospects to explore themselves in extracurricular activities. FVSU maintains its own radio station, television station and a newspaper too with the active participation of students. Even university students are given opportunity to take part in athletics at university level, inter-university level championships in various sports and games.
