Fluid Control Research Institute

Fluid Control Research Institute (FCRI) is located in Kerala, India and has 25 years of dedicated service to nation. It was started as a project in 1984 with techno-commercial inputs from UNDP/UNIDO and was dedicated to the Nation in 1989. Fluid Control Research Institute is a national Centre is established by the Government of India as a UNDP assisted project with the active support of UNIDO as the executing agency. It is registered under the Societies Act and comes under the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India. It is an Independent organization and its affairs and activities are managed by a duly constituted Governing Council. The Institutes mission is to provide the basic framework for technological development for the flow products industry and also to serve as a national certifying authority and high quality calibration laboratory.

Mission of this organisation is to be a globally recognized technical and socio-eco-friendly organization that provides world class value added services to its customers. Most of the key personnel at the Institute have been trained at National Engineering Laboratory, UK, and National Research Laboratory for Metrology, Japan, Delft Hydraulics, Netherlands, Cranfield Institute of Technology, U.K, and many other reputed institutes. It includes the services of calibration, testing and training. Quality and special tests available at FCRI are valve test facility, fugitive emission test, high pressure high temperature test facility with thermal cycling, high pressure water flow facility, cavitation test facility, PIV system and actuator test facility.

Fluid flow plays the key role in the working process of many engineering devices. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) deals with simulation of fluid flow with heat and mass transfer in and around various engineering and natural objects. FCRI has undertaken many sponsored/internal CFD projects in the area of Design optimization, modeling, simulation, design validation, etc. for various industries and other scientific and technical organizations. FCRI has its reputation for Technical Training programmes, both standard and customized training solutions, which are specifically designed to develop, enhance and equip the Industry with the latest principles, technologies and applications in Instrumentation.
