Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College (Swedish: Ersta Sköndal Bräcke högskola) is a private Swedish institution for higher education and research. The university college has departments for education in nursing, social work, church music, theology and psychotherapy as well as research within the field of social science, welfare rights, health care science and ethics, palliative care, diaconal research, organizational and worklife ethics and psychotherapy research. Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College is dedicated to studies in the fields of social work, nursing and health care, psychotherapy, theology and church music with an explicit ethical and diaconal orientation. The University College was founded on January 1st, 1998 through the merger of the undergraduate, post-graduate and research programmes of the Ersta Society for Diaconal Work and The Stora Sköndal Foundation. On October 5th, 2010 Bräcke diakoni became a new part owner. A distinguishing characteristic of the University College is that it offers courses in which theory is combined with practice, research with studies in the field, and that special attention is given to questions within philosophies of life and world views, professionalization and societal issues. The University College has three campuses, one at Ersta, one at Stora Sköndal and one at Bräcke in Gothenburg, with a total of approximately 1600 students. Both campuses offer a unique study environment with a combination of old tradition and new interdisciplinary collaboration as well as opportunities for personal development. At Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College, you can study to become a nurse, social worker, theologian, church musician or pursue psychotherapy training. The education offered by Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College is carried out in four departments, located on three campuses. Some courses are conducted in English, but Swedish is the main language.  Approximately 2000 professionals per year from Social Services, Health Care, Civil Society Organizations, Private Service Providers and related entities are studying at the Institute for Commissioned Education (ICE) at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University College. Research and education are interdependent in a variety of ways. Research is vital for a university college that has high ambitions regarding the quality of the education it offers.
