Coventry University is an open examination college in the city of Coventry, England. It was created as a college through the Further and Higher
Education Act 1992, and was earlier known as Lanchester Polytechnic until 1987 and Coventry Polytechnic until it was recompensed college status. The roots of Coventry University could be followed back to the nineteenth century with the establishing of the Coventry College of Design in 1843. Later renamed the Coventry School of Art, it was again renamed in the early twentieth century to the Municipal Art School as a component of the
Education Act 1902. One last name change occurred in the 1950s, when it got to be known as the College of Art. With more than 27,000 understudies (starting 2013), Coventry University is the bigger of the two colleges in the city, the other being the University of Warwick. It has two yards: one in the downtown area of Coventry where an expansive greater part of the college works, and one in London.
