Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI) is a Kolkata based research institute under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, India.Established in 1950 it focuses on the area of glass, ceramics, mica, refractories etc.To carry out basic and applied research in the fields of glass, ceramics, refractories, vitreous enamels, composites and allied materials that can be developed into appropriate technologies relevant to the countrys security, economic, industrial and socio-economic needs. To undertake advanced R&D projects which are internationally competitive and public-private partnership projects sponsored by private/public sector enterprises. To provide technical advisory and infra-structural services like project engineering, testing & evaluation, training & education and dissemination of scientific information to the public domain.Research Council (RC) for CSIR-Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), Kolkata from 1st August, 2013 to 30th April, 2017 (vide RC Extension OM No. 9/1/RC/2016-17-RPPBDD dated 09.02.2017). The constituted RC has the following composition and functions according to the OM no: 19A/CGCRI/2013-016-PPD dated 01.08.2013.The Glasgow School of Art is host to a number of high-profile research projects, funded primarily through the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, and the Economic and Social Research Council, although other UK research councils have funded projects in the past. Research professors include Professor Thomas Joshua Cooper, Professor Alastair Macdonald, Professor Paul Anderson, Professor Tim Sharpe, Professor Irene McAra-McWilliam OBE, Professor Ken Neil, Professor Johnny Rodger, Professor Christopher Platt and Professor Brian Evans.The GSA has been ranked in the top 10 of specialist educational institutions in the Guardian University Guide, ranking it the top specialist visual arts institution in the UK.Its degrees are validated by the University of Glasgow.HESA statistics show GSA to have one of the lowest student drop-out rates in the UK.In March 2016 the Commission on Widening Access (CoWA) found the percentage of Scottish-domiciled full-time first degree entrants from SIMD 20 (20% most deprived areas of Scotland) at GSA was 22.2%. This is the second highest in Scotland, according to CoWAs report, with only University of the West of Scotland having higher. G. N. Ramachandran developed a triple-helical model of collagen using samples provided by the institute during his research in 1954.[13] He was later awarded the 1999 Ewald Prize for his contributions.Thirumalachari Ramasami, a former director of the institute, was a renowned chemist. For his contributions, he was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award and the Padma Shri.[15] He is awarded Padma Bhushan in 2014 narayanan Chandrakumar, chemical physicist, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar laureate.
