The Carnary Centre at Stanford is located in Palo Alto, California, USA and has been into
cancer research. The main objective of the centre is to conduct research for developing methods for
cancer detection at early stage. The main focus of the centre is to develop diagnostic tests to identify likelihood of
cancer from blood and
molecular imaging strategies that help in localization of cancers and knowing the
cancer type. The centre has highly sophisticated facilities and research is conducted with collaboration among different research teams that focus on bioinformatics, proteomics, chemistry, engineering and molecular imaging. The alliance between Carnary Foundation, the Department of Radiology and the School of
Medicine led to the establishment of the centre. Some of the ongoing research projects of the centre include: Modeling
cancer heterogeneity, developing and validation of
biomarkers for detection of ovarian and prostate cancers, identification of new
biomarkers for breast cancer, developing novel imaging methods for breast, ovarian, prostate, lung, head and neck cancers.
