Bangor University is a long-established institution, with over 120 years dedication to academic excellence. The most recent Research Assessment Exercise confirms its status as a world-class research institution with an international reputation.
It is a Welsh university based in the city of Bangor in the county of Gwynedd in North Wales. It received its Royal charter in 1885 and was one of the founding member institutions of the former federal University of Wales. It was officially known for most of its
history as the University of Wales. From September 2007 it became known as Bangor University, having become independent from the federal University of Wales.
In 2012 Bangor was ranked 251 of the worlds top universities. Bangor is regarded to be amongst the UKs best university locations, situated between the mountains of Snowdonia and the Irish Sea and offering some of the finest beaches and most beautiful scenery in the country.
The University offers a variety of tailored postgraduate bursaries and scholarships, allowing numerous opportunities for all students to partially or fully fund their postgraduate study. It has well-structured, comprehensive orientation delivered by our staff, covers all essential information you’ll need to find your feet in Britain. Sessions include:
health & safety issues, local transport information, academic adjustment, budgeting, survival training, suggestions for meeting new friends, and an introduction to popular culture such as One Direction and Harry Potter Social and cultural events can include a guided theatre / museum visit, excursion to Kensington Palace, riverboat tours and a pub quiz evening reception. Orientation is evaluated by students and every semester we review content and delivery with student input in mind.
