The Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) proposed the Don Bosco University project and executed by Don Bosco Society, Azara, Guwahati, Assam. The salesians of Don Bosco are known for the
management of several non-formal training, agricultural training, relief and rehabilitation, literacy centers and shelters for street children in India. The university was established on 10th January 2007.
Assam Don Bosco University, located at the gateway to North East India ie., Guwahati, has three campuses. The Tapesia Campus, within the serene Tapesia Gardens, off National Highway 37, spreads over 500 acres of waving hills. Azara Campus, is located off the Airport Road, having two sectors namely Don Bosco College of Engineering and Technology (DBCET) and Don Bosco Institute of Social Sciences (DBISS). Kharguli Campus, situated in the Ramsai Hills, near Brahmaputra, have the Don Bosco Institute of
Management (DBIM).
Don Bosco University aims at excellence in teaching and promulgation of knowledge among the seekers and maintain a vibrant campus ministry program. Three major sectors: Technology, Service and Social sectors are included in the study and research curriculum. The Technology sector includes all information technology area, related fields of
biotechnology and other scientific fields. The Service Sector covers nursing, pharmacy, paramedical, psychology, counseling, management, media, arts, social work, rural development and other related fields. The Social sector includes theology, cultural studies, ethics, governance and tribal studies.
Facilities of distance
education is also available using programs like IT-enabled techniques. This university ties a commitment to the society promoting training and
education programs for women, farmers and local industrial community college groups. Fully sponsored residential school and merit scholarships along with
education loans for underprivileged children and meritorious students is encouraged and provided respectively.
