Assam Agricultural University

The Assam Agricultural University was established on April 1, 1969 under The Assam Agricultural University Act, 1968 imparting farm education, conduct research in agriculture and allied sciences and to effectively disseminate technologies so generated.
Few colleges that are affiliated to this university includes College of Home Science in Jorhat, College of Fisheries at Raha, Biswanath College of Agriculture at Biswanath Chariali, Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science at North Lakhimpur, College of Agriculture and its farm in Jorhat and College of Veterinary Sciences in Guwahati.
This includes six Regional Agricultural Research Stations (RARS) and five commodity research stations: Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS)(Titabar), RARS (Shillongani), RARS (Gossaigaon), RARS (North Lakhimpur), RARS (Karimganj), Diphu. It includeds Commodity Research Stations: Horticultural Research Station, Kahikuchi, Sugarcane Research Station, Buralikson, Citrus Research Station, Tinsukia, Goat Research Station, Byrnihat, Livestock Research Station, Mandira.
The provides project funding and effective monitoring of the programs to make them sharply focused to the relevant problems only.
