The early name of the University was Dongnan Medical College, establisghed in 1926 in shanghai. In 1952 the Dongnan Medical College changed its name to Anhui Medical College. In June, 1996, approved by the national Committee on Education. It was renamed to Anhui Medical University.
There are 16673 students at the university of which 179 are enrolled in doctoral programs, 2728 in Master’s program, and 8867 in undergraduate programs, 95 international students and 7187 students in the School of Extended Education.
The University has 24 directly affiliated teaching units and ten affiliated hospitals, 42 clinical schools and 37 teaching hospitals. The University offers 29 undergraduate programs and 8 doctoral program, 64 master’s program and 5 professional degree programs.
The University of two campuses; the main campus and the southern campus. The total campus covers an area of 860000 square meter and with total floor space of about 700 thousand square meters.
The
administration part consists of many colleges and departments, School of public health, college of Nursing, Pharmacy, Basic
medicine and departments are Department of Clinical Medicine, Medical psychology, Rehabilitation, Anesthesia, Iconography.
