Agricultural
Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran is situated in Karaj in Iran. This Institute is basically working on developing tools that are significant to the field of biotechnology. Such tools that will help to improve the quality of crops. Those developed crops will be able to tolerate
stress of various kinds, such as abiotic
stress and biotic stress. This institute works towards bringing together the traditional ways of agricultural practice and the advanced technology so as to improve the quality and quantity of the crop produced. The main focus of this institute is towards increasing the production of crops in Iran, getting a suitable solution to certain problems such as biotic and abiotic stress, serving as an important part in collaborating both the areas such as
biotechnology and genetic engineering. In total there are six departments in this institute that serve different research aspects. But all of them have the same goal that is achieving high yield and removing all the crop related problems. The main departments are Genomics, Microbial Biotechnology, system Biology, Nuclear Agriculture, Bioinformatics, Nanotechnology, Tissue Culture and Gene Transformation, Molecular Physiology.
