He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Fluminense Federal University (2003), a master's degree (2005) and a doctorate (2008) in Biological Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He worked as a Public Health Technologist (2008-2014, Cellular and Molecular Diagnosis of Viruses) and currently is Specialist in Public Health (2014 - current Viral Biology) of Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz). He is a permanent advisor of the Postgraduate Course in Cellular and Molecular Biology (Fiocruz - 2008), Productivity Scholar (CNPq - 2015), Young Scientist of Our State (FAPERJ - 2009) and Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences . He is a Virologist at the Center for Technological Development in Health (CDTS) of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, coordinating the laboratory of molecular diagnosis of the viruses of the National Institute of Infectology Evandro Chagas (INI) and research group in the pre-clinical development of new antiviral drugs at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute. It presents international collaborations, University of Miami (Dr. Mario Stevenson group), Broad Institute (Dr. Pardis Sabeti group), and cooperation with national production sector, Consortium of BMK Farmoquímicas companies. The main contributions are: i) identification of sofosbuvir, an approved molecule against HCV, as antiviral against Zika; ii) identification of zika variants circulating in the Americas; iii) cellular and molecular studies of the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) virus in immunocompromised individuals; iv) monitoring of antiviral resistant circulating influenza strains
