Theoklis Zaoutis is a Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine and Director of the postgraduate program of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN). He is Chief of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and has published more than 230 articles in scientific journals of international renown. Being the director of the “Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness” (CPCE), his goal is the discovery, expansion and materialization of the best possible practices for more effective care for hospitalized children. He also participates in a number of advisory committees in the USA and Europe, such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute of Health (NIH), the American Academy of Pediatrics and the European Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He was recently chosen as a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria. He received the Healthcare Epidemiology Pediatric Investigator Award in 2009 and was honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society in 2015.
