Biography

Dr. Thyvalikakath, biomedical informatics researcher and dentist, is director of the newly created dental informatics core initiative at the Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD). As director of Quality Improvement, she also oversees clinical data analytics to assess treatment and patient care outcomes. Previously, Dr. Thyvalikakath served as faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and Department of Biomedical Informatics.

Research Intrest

Her research focuses on applying user-centered design and cognitive engineering methods to design clinical systems that better support clinicians’ decision making processes, utilizing health information exchange to promote coordinated care between medical and dental care providers, and leveraging electronic health records data for clinical research and quality improvement purposes.
