Tefera is a Research Associate and PhD candidate at CRED. He obtained his B.Sc. in Statistics and M.Sc. in Population Studies from Addis Ababa University (AAU), and MPHM from Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). He worked in the position of Lecturer at Hawassa University, Research Advisor at Marie Stopes International Ethiopia, and independent consultant in different organizations. Since joining CRED in June 2014, he has been actively involved in different research projects. His main research focuses on improving public health needs assessment in humanitarian settings using advanced epidemiological methods. Examples of his research include assessment of nutrition and mortality in drought and conflict situations; and investigating the health impact of living in close proximity to crisis-prone national borders.
