Stephen Aris is a senior researcher at the Center for Security Studies (CSS), and a temporary lecturer at the University of Zurich. He has previously held visiting scholarships at the University of California, Berkeley; Higher School of Economics, Moscow; and George Washington University, DC.
His research interests centre on critical and constructivist approaches to the study of regionalism, non-Western contexts and international institutions; and the international politics of the post-Soviet space and East Asia, with a particular focus on the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
