Born in 1989 in Ä°zmir, AyÅŸe Nur Sarı completed her schooling in various locations around Turkey before starting her degree in 2006 at the Department of Bioengineering at Ege University. As a result of the undergraduate courses and voluntary work that she undertook, she decided to pursue a career in the field of microbiology. This prompted her to complete her final undergraduate thesis on the subject of bacterial genetics. AyÅŸe Nur Sarı began her masters degree in medical microbiology at Dokuz Eylül University in 2010, working on the molecular epidemiology of antibiotic resistance genes. After being awarded a research scholarship by FEMS (Federation of European Microbiological Societies) in 2012, she worked for 2 months at Edinburgh University on MLST and plasmid replicon typing methods. She has published two papers as a result of her work during her masters degree and has presented a variety of academic posters at national and international conferences. In 2014, AyÅŸe Nur Sarı was appointed to the Department of Medical Microbiology at SANKO University as a research assistant . She has a good command of English and a basic knowledge of German. Alongside her love of literature, she studies history of art whenever she gets the opportunity.
