Biography

Dr. Casaburi is an internationally renowned expert on Chronic and Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), now the third leading cause of death in the United States. Dr. Casaburi established the Rehabilitation Clinical Trials Center, a clinical research facility dedicated to improving the lives of COPD patients. In this center, multiple concurrent clinical trials are performed, all focused on developing strategies such as exercise testing and training to improve the lives of patients with COPD. Dr. Casaburi has completed more than 75 clinical research studies, including participation in three major NIH multicenter projects. He has published more than 260 papers. In addition Dr. Casaburi holds the Alvin Grancell/Mary Burns Endowed Chair in the Rehabilitative Sciences at LA BioMed, and serves as president of the Pulmonary Education and Research Foundation, a non-profit corporation dedicated to advancing the scientific basis and practice of pulmonary rehabilitation.
