Dr. Raymundo Cea Olivares received his bachelor degree in chemistry from the Faculty of Chemistry, UNAM (1974). His Master in Science (1976) and PhD in Chemistry (1980) were obtained from the same institution. He held a posdoctoral position at the University of Texas at El Paso, USA (1984-1985) and another at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Munich, Germany (1986-1987), with a grant from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Dr. Cea was a visiting scholar for two semesters at the University of Baja California, Tijuana (1979-1980) and Visiting Researcher for one semester at the Center for Biological Research of Baja California Sur (1983). At present, Dr. Cea is Full Researcher at the Institute of Chemistry, UNAM, obtained the maximum level at the Academic Personnel Performance Program and received a grant as Distinguished Scholar from UNAM in August 2001. He has supervised 47 thesis, 10 Master’s and 15 PhD’s. Dr. Cea is also National Co-Director of the Popularization of Science Program "Sundays in Science", sponsored by the Mexican Academy of Sciences. He has published 140 papers in international journals. He was Coordinator of Masters and Doctorate Program in Chemistry, UNAM (2000-2003) and Director of the Institute of Chemistry at UNAM (2003-2010). He has been awarded the maximum level from the National System of Researchers. He was head of the General Office of Academic Affairs, UNAM (2010-2011).
