Biography

Dr Cheung is currently a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Singapore National Eye Centre and a Clinician Investigator at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. Dr. Cheung’s research interests include the study of risk factors and clinical features of macular diseases which may be unique in Asian populations. Dr. Cheung has conducted several clinical trials in anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapies. Dr Cheung has been actively involved in training and education. She has served as Instructor on courses at the APAO Annual congress (2012 and 2013), and the AAO Annual meeting (2012), and as Ex-Co member in the Asia Pacific Vitreoretinal Society Meeting (2010) and the Asia-ARVO (2011) meetings. She has served as a volunteer faculty for the ORBIS flying eye hospital programme since 2012. Dr. Cheung has received a number of prestigious awards, including the APAO Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award (2013), the Bayer Global Ophthlamology Research Award (2012), the Roper-Hall Medal (Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre 2005) and the Elizabeth Hunt Medal (Royal College of Ophthalmologists, UK).

Research Intrest

Imaging and treatment of retinal disorders including age-related macular degeneration, idiopathic polypoidal vasculopathy, diabetic retinopathy and retinal dysfunction in association with ocular inflammation (uveitis).
