Sitas holds a PhD in Conservation Ecology from Stellenbosch University. She is involved in a variety of applied research projects focused on designing and understanding multi-stakeholder knowledge exchange processes linked to mainstreaming biodiversity and ecosystem services into various decision-making contexts. Her work focuses on transdisciplinary approaches for bridging the gaps between research, policy and implementation.
Sitas’ research interests span both the social and ecological spheres, with an emphasis on exploring the potential of ecosystem-based solutions for enhancing more transformative and sustainable development pathways, especially within a developing country context.
