Professor Michel Ducreux is Head of the Gastrointestinal Unit at the Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France and Professor of Oncology at University of Paris Sud. Professor Ducreux received his medical degree and qualifications in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal tract oncology from the University of Paris Sud, France. He completed a Masters degree in biological sciences in 1991 and obtained a PhD in health sciences from the University of Burgundy, France, in 2000. Before accepting his current position, Professor Ducreux was the Assistant Physician at the Gastrointestinal Unit at the Institut Gustave Roussy. He became Professor of Oncology, responsible for gastrointestinal oncology, in September 2005. Professor Ducreux is a member of the European Society for Medical Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, as well as several French scientific societies. He is Secretary of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Gastrointestinal Tract Cancer Group, and he is the past Chair of the Gastrointestinal Group of the French Federation of Anticancer Centres (FNCLCC). Professor Ducreux has authored numerous articles (more than 280) on the treatment of gastrointestinal tumours in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Annals of Oncology, and others.
