Biography

Dr. Michael J. Pontecorvo Ph.D., has been Vice President of Clinical Development at Avid Radiopharmaceuticals, Inc. since June 1, 2006. Dr. Pontecorvo is a recognized expert in Alzheimer''s disease and has 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in CNS research and clinical development, including directing the development of the Alzheimer''s therapy Reminyl(R) (now Razadyne(R)). Dr. Pontecorvo served as Vice President of Clinical Research at Dov Pharmaceuticals, where he led worldwide clinical programs for a number of novel CNS therapies. He served as Vice President of Clinical Development at Mitsubishi Pharma America. Dr. Pontecorvo held increasingly responsible positions in clinical development, as a project leader at Janssen Pharmaceutica. Dr. Pontecorvo managed anti-dementia and other CNS clinical programs at Nova Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Pontecorvo helped direct basic research in neuropharmacology and Alzheimer''s disease, and he has held leadership positions in a regional Alzheimer''s disease association for almost 15 years. He is the Author of more than 30 publications, attended numerous invited presentations and holds six patents. Dr. Pontecorvo received a Bachelor's Degree, summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Ph.D. from Indiana University.
