Burke is a senior researcher in robotics (mobile intelligent autonomous systems) and related technology. He works on the development of interest detection algorithms to summarise spatially-tagged surveillance videos, investigating the automatic extraction of shoreline properties from coastline images and developing software and algorithms for an autonomous mapping robot.
Burke’s research interests are in the application of machine learning, computer vision and pattern recognition tools to spatio-temporal data. His work includes the development of interest detection algorithms to summarise spatially-tagged surveillance videos for human operators.
