Biography

Graduation in Medicine (1990), PhD in Biological Sciences (1995) and Post-Doctorate (1996) by Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He is currently Researcher and Professor (in Lato and Stricto Sensu programs of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute) and head (besides founder) of the Laboratory of Cellular Communication at Oswaldo Cruz Institute. He has mentored more than thirty masters, PhDs and postdocs who are professors or researchers from several private, public universities and research institutes. Several of these students have already established research groups at Unioeste Paraná, Federal University of Tocantins, UFRJ, Fiocruz and Senai Research Center. He was one of the founding members of the Post-Graduation in Education in Biosciences and Health Lato Sensu and Stricto Sensu of the Oswaldo Cruz Institute. He has received several outstanding prizes such as Luiz Carlos da Costa Gayotto, Brazilian Society of Hepatology, and Roberto Alcantâra Gomes, Brazilian Society of Biophysics and the Brazilian Association of Medical Education.
