Dr. Luis Franco is originally from Brazil and received his PhD in Immunology from the University of São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. Dr. Franco’s research is focused on the study of host-pathogen interactions, with emphasis on innate immunity. Currently, Dr. Franco studies how autophagy protects against infection by M. tuberculosis and works on the development of new therapeutics for tuberculosis treatment. Out of the lab, Dr. Franco’s interests include music, sports and outdoor activities.
