His current projects:Ecology of human enteric pathogens in fresh horticultural products, Characterization of probiotics and bacteriophages and their interactions with food-borne pathogens.
Development of probiotics as alternatives to antibiotics to control food-borne pathogens and improve food safety investigating mechanism of action of lactic acid bacteria application of DNA microarray technology and real-time PCR to study food-borne pathogens and their interactions with probiotics development of bacteriophage-based bio-disinfectants to control food-borne pathogens conducting ecological studies to characterize native microflorae on fresh produce and determine the influence of natural microflorae on the fate of Salmonella and Escherichia coli O157:H7 control of food-borne pathogens on fresh produce
