"Kevin is an Executive at EOH Coastal and Environmental Services (CES), a specialist environmental consultancy firm. After obtaining an M.Sc in Zoology and Ph.D in Environmental Biotechnology from Rhodes University he held various lecturing posts at the same university. From 2004 – 2009 Kevin held the position of Senior Lecturer in the Rhodes Investec Business School / Department of Environmental Science where he was responsible for the development and co-ordination of the environmental management electives of the MBA programme. In 2009 he took up a position as Principle Consultant at CES and was involved in Environmental Impact Assessments and related projects for developments across Africa. Over the last 10 years he has been involved in a number of industrial ESIA projects within South Africa and internationally, both as Project Manager and as a waste management specialist. These include various heavy mineral, copper, iron and graphite mining projects, wind energy facilities, forestry operations and numerous large-scale agro-industrial / biofuel developments. More recently he has specialised in Environmental Business Risk and due diligence assessments and regularly undertakes work of this nature for a variety of Development Finance Institutions. He also has a specialist knowledge of the IFC Performance Standards and has provided technical assistance related to these standards to clients in the mining and forestry sectors. Kevin’s research interests are diverse and he has supervised research and published in the areas of waste management & sanitation, environmental business risks, climate change risk, and environmental biotechnology. He is also a registered auditor with the Roundtable for Sustainable Biomaterials and regularly provides technical assistance to the Water Research Commission."
