Kajel obtained her BSc (Hons) in Developmental Biology and Genetics from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, in 2010. Kajel then went on to complete a two-year internship in the department of Somatic Cell Genetics at the National Health Laboratory Service where she obtained her registration as a Medical Biological Scientist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. In 2014, Kajel joined Genesis Genetics South Africa.
