Biography

He holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from UFRJ (1986), a master's degree (1989) and a doctorate (1993) in Biological Sciences / Biophysics from UFRJ (1993). Postdoctoral degree from the Max-Planck Institute of Neurobiology / Germany. Since 1995, he has independently developed research in the areas of Immunology, Parasitology and Cell Biology. In 1998, he created / accredited the Interaction Biology Laboratory (LBI / IOC / Fiocruz). Researcher with Productivity Grant / CNPq (Immunology) since 1994 and Researcher / Fiocruz since 1998. Prize winner: "Classic Citation / ISI (1990-2000), CAPES 2006 / CB-III (guidance), Baldacci Scientific Publishing / 2013. Coordinator of the Integrated Chagas Disease Program of Fiocruz (PIDC, http://www.fiocruz.br/pidc) from 2005-2009. Creator and coordinator of the "Portal Chagas disease" (http: //www.fiocruz . br / portalchagas). Scientist of Our State / FAPERJ in various periods (including 2010-2013). In 2013, he created the Ciclo Carlos Chagas de Lectures / IOC / Fiocruz. Author / Director of the Documentary "Chagas disease: turning the game" (http://www.ioc.fiocruz.br/chagasvideo/). It has been in the LBI since 2004 the Sector of Scientific Literacy, aiming at the education, information, dissemination and development of researches that subsidize public policies of health promotion. Promotes Educational Workshops (schools, sports and cultural centers) for people exposed to the risk of transmitting vector diseases, with an emphasis on Chagas' disease. Contributed to the formation of researchers who act as teachers / researchers in Federal Universities (UFRJ, UFF, UFCE, UFOP). He publishes continuously and consistently in the area of ​​Immunology
