Jefferson is a Research Scientist, Geophysical Operations Manager, and Interim State Seismologist. He has been working for the Oklahoma Geological Survey since 2014. He is fond of double-sided puzzles, with no edges, and few extra pieces. He applies this sentiment towards his research and academic pursuits. He received an A.A. in Liberal Arts from the University of Hawaii Leeward Community College (2001); a B.S. in Geology from Northern Arizona University (2005), with a thesis defining the tectonics and seismicity of the Arizona Transition Zone; a M.S. in Geology from the University of Texas at El Paso (2008), with a thesis that found an intra-crustal reflector that straddles onshore and offshore Southern California; and is working towards finishing his Ph.D. at the University of Oklahoma (expected 2016), with a dissertation that studies earthquakes from large-scale regional surveys to small-scale laboratory experiments.
