Jacques Essinger was appointed CEO of Symetis in 2004, and the company's turnaround to develop and establish Symetis's ACURATE technology platform. He started his career as R&D director of a US-based CT scan image processing company, then co-founded and became CEO of a Swiss orthopedics company, and was subsequently appointed general manager of a US surgical tool company. In 1997 he was appointed CEO of Modex Therapeutics, which he led through a number of VC financing rounds, an IPO on the Swiss Exchange in 2000, a merger with Netherlands-based IsoTis in 2002, and the acquisition of US-based Gensci Orthobiologics in 2003. Dr. Essinger holds an MS degree in Physics, and a PhD in Biomechanics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne.
