J. Rafael Gorospé M.D., Ph.D., is a medical officer in the Center for Research Capacity Building, where he administers Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program grants. Before joining NIGMS, he was a medical officer in the Division of Research Infrastructure at the former National Center for Research Resources. Prior to that, Gorospé was a faculty member in the department of pediatrics at George Washington University and at the Children's National Medical Center, where he conducted research on childhood genetic brain disorders. He earned an A.B. in humanities from the University of the Philippines, an M.D. from Virgen Milagrosa University in the Philippines and a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the University of Pittsburgh.
