Graduated in Medicine from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (1988) and PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (1992). Postdoctoral Program in Molecular Biology & Human Genetics, University of Utah. He is currently a researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and Vice-Director of Research for Technological Development and Innovation at Oswaldo Cruz Institute. Has experience in the field of Immunology and pharmacology, with emphasis in Inflammation, acting mainly in the following subjects: inflammation, paf, cytokines, sepsis. Malaria and neuroinflammation. He also has experience and interest in the exploration and development of new compounds obtained from the study of plants with potential therapeutic activity.
