Biography

Fabrice Maerten (°1962) studied history at the UCL (catholic university of Louvain-la-Neuve). In 1996, he defended his doctoral thesis on political and ideological resistance in the province of the Hainaut during the Second World War. He was junior researcher at the National Foundation for Scientific Research from 1985 to 1989 and assistant at the UCL and the Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis from 1989 to 1995. He has worked at Cegesoma since 1995. From 1996 to 2010, he has been the francophone secretary of the editorial board of the Cahiers d'histoire du temps présent/Bijdragen tot de Eigentijdse Geschiedenis. From 2005 to 2016 he was substitute director and in charge of communication (website and Bulletin). Since 1 January 2011, he is also head of the Documentation sector His field of research comprises the resistance and Catholicism in Belgium during the Second World War. From January to April 2017 he was Head ad interim Fourth Operational Directorate CegeSoma.
