Biography

Dr. Erica Brown is the Deputy Director of the Division of Extramural Activities at the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) where she is responsible for coordinating and overseeing NIGMS grant policies and procedures, as well as in assisting Institute officials in formulating institute programs and objectives. Prior to joining NIGMS, Dr. Brown served as the Director of the NIH Guide to Grants and Contracts in the NIH Office of Extramural Research where she managed the publication of Funding Opportunity Announcements and Notices in the NIH Guide, ensuring that all announcements complied with NIH, DHHS, and OMB policies and regulations. Dr. Brown obtained her BS in Biochemistry from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. She earned her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed her postdoctoral training in the NIAID Intramural Research Program.
