Biography

We live in an incredibly exciting and challenging time for improvements in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. I work as a senior research scientist and project leader in the Clinical Imaging Team within the Biomedical Informatics Group at the Australian e-Health Research Centre (e-Health Research Program) in Brisbane, Australia. Our program is focused on improving the safety, quality and efficiency of health services by developing and translating technology in collaboration with clinical partners. In my research I work with hospital radiology and radiation oncology departments to improve the acquisition, analysis, and clinical utility of medical images, mainly magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). My work is multi-disciplinary and covers aspects of medical physics, radiology, oncology, machine learning, quantitative research, applied mathematics and software engineering. I'm a member of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine.I have an Adjunct Associate Professor position at UNSW Faculty of Medicine and have additional honourary positions at the University of Sydney and University of Newcastle. Since 2011 I've been a chief or co-investigator in grants with a value $3.5M, co-authored two books and 40+ peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. I am a current invited member of the NHMRC Grants Review Panel (2016+).
