Dr. Guillermo Delgado Lamas is a chemist graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he also studied a Master Degree and a PHD in Chemistry Science, specialized in Organic Chemistry, under the tutelage of Dr. Alfonso Romo de Vivar. He also did temporary appointments in the Department of Chemistry of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, at The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) in La Jolla, California, USA, under the tutelage of Prof. Albert Eschenmoser. at present he is fully researcher in the university of chemistry. he honored as a Coordinator of the Master and PhD Program of Chemical Science at UNAM (2005-2007), President (2007-2009) and Vicepresident (2005-2007) of the Mexican Chemical Society, Member of the National Research System, since 1984, where he is currently level III.
The research topics comprehend the determination of the molecular structure; stereochemistry, chemical reactions, biogenesis, biotransformation, semisynthesis and bioactivity of products obtained from several natural sources. These studies include the analysis of vegetal species commonly use in agronomics, food, drugs, among others. These researches aim to the understanding of the molecular mechanism that operates in nature and to establishing the liaison between molecular structures and bioactivity
