Eline van der Beek studied Zoology (1980â€1984) with specialisations in Histology, Physiology and Pharmacology at the Polytechnic school in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and worked thereafter as research assistant at the Netherlands Institute for Neurosciences in Amsterdam for 6 years. She returned to Utrecht where she received a PhD degree in Neuroendocrinology in 1994 from the Utrecht University on her thesis entitled ‘Circadian regulation of the Hypothalamusâ€Pituitaryâ€Gonadal axis in the female’. Following her postdoctoral degree she became postdoctoral researcher and later Assistant Professor at the Animal Sciences Department, Wageningen University, where she focussed her research on the neuroendocrinological regulation of hormones and behaviour.
