Biography

Dr. Rodríguez Romero received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Autonomous Metropolitan University in 1991, specializing in Protein Crystallography. She spent one year (95-96) at the Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology, NIST, Maryland, USA, as Guest Researcher. She joined the staff of the Chemistry Institute in 1986 receiving funds for her research from CONACyT and DGAPA-UNAM. She has published 56 articles in indexed prestigious journals, several chapters of books and articles in popular science journals. She was distinguished as Full Researcher at the Institute of Chemistry. She obtained level 3, the maximum level at the National Research System. Iberoamericana Crystallography Award, by the Iberoamericana Crystallography group, for the work entitled “Crystallographic and Conformational Study of Hevein”, April 1988. Award for best PhD thesis in Chemistry, by the School of Chemistry and the Institute of Chemistry, UNAM, 1992.

Research Intrest

Dr. Rodríguez Romero research is mainly focused in the structural and functional studies of allergens and their receptors with the aim to understand the molecular mechanisms of allergenic diseases, and to develop diagnosis tools. Other topics cover biochemical and structural studies of plant enzymes and parasites, and proteins that undergo oligomerization processes.
