Biography

Prior to rejoining Purina Animal Nutrition, Brown worked at Phileo Lesaffre Animal Care in research, development and technical services for North America. Before that, she worked with Purina Animal Nutrition in a number of roles in which she provided expertise on swine and young animal nutrition. Brown’s research expertise and interests include: Immunology and microbiology, The effects of nutrition on animal health, Young animal immunology. “One of the accomplishments of which I am most proud is a feeding method we developed at Purina to enhance ruminant performance by building the rumen structure and function,” Brown says. “A patent is pending for the feeding method and feed composition, which optimizes growth in the first 24 weeks of a calf’s life. ” Brown has a Ph.D. in animal nutritional immunology and a master’s degree in animal reproductive physiology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Her research endeavors explored the interactions of diet, gastrointestinal micro-organisms and immunity as a means to optimize animal performance. She completed her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Central Arkansas.
