Biography

 Daniel J. Burgard is the Principal Soil Scientist for CES and currently holds the positions of Technical Lead for Food Processing business and is the corporate Soils Disciplines Manager. He has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Soil Science, is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist, and has been with CES since 1991. Mr. Burgard’s project areas have focused on land treatment systems using industrial and municipal wastes and wastewaters as resources in crop production. Mr. Burgard has experience with projects that have included potato, fruit, vegetable, meat processing, and municipal wastewater irrigation design, operations, and permitting, power plant and coal-bed methane produced water management, paper mill sludge management, biosolids management, and permitting, monitoring, and reporting. Recent special projects have focused on large-scale agricultural uses of reclaimed water and practical applications of vadose zone monitoring for land application systems. He has worked on projects in many U.S. states as well as internationally.
