Biography

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution "Research Institute of Eye Diseases" , head. Department of the First Moscow State Medical University. THEM. Sechenov, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Chief Specialist in Ophthalmology of the Main Medical Department of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation. Scientific supervisor of the "Center for the restoration of vision."  Academician Avetisov S.E. - Representative of the ophthalmologic dynasty. His father, Professor Eduard S. Avetisov was deputy director for research at the Moscow Eye Diseases Institute. Helmholtz, devoted his research on optometry, strabismus, the mechanism of development of myopia in children. The son followed in his footsteps. He graduated with honors from the 1 st Moscow Medical Institute. THEM. In 1985, S.E. Avetisov defended his doctoral thesis on "Clinical and experimental study of the possibilities of surgical correction of astigmatism." S.E. Avetisov is the author of 432 scientific articles, 4 monographs, a textbook on eye diseases, 3 reference books, guidance on pediatric ophthalmology, co-author of the national leadership "Ophthalmology". He owns 47 patents for inventions. Under the guidance of Professor S.E. 21 candidates and 14 doctoral dissertations were defended by Avetisov. He heads the dissertation council at the Research Institute of Eye Diseases. In 2012, Professor Sergey Eduardovich Avetisov was elected a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Priority directions of scientific research S.E. Avetisova are ophthalmoergonomics, optometry, traditional and surgical methods of correcting myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, ophthalmic microsurgery. A number of studies by S.E. Avetisova on refractive surgery received widespread introduction into practice. For the first time he proposed and justified a new principle of correction of ametropia after early surgery of congenital cataracts, which provides for the complex application of various means of correction. For a series of works "Spatial ultrasound digital research in the diagnosis of eye and orbit diseases" in 2009, S.E. Avetisov was awarded the prize. acad. M.I. Averbakh for the best scientific work on eye diseases.
