Alfonso Bueno-Orovio

Senior Researcher
Department of Computer Science
University of Oxford
United Kingdom

Biography

Alfonso Bueno-Orovio obtained a MSc in Industrial Engineering (2002) and a PhD in Physics and Mathematics (2007) from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.  In September 2010, he joined the Computational Biology Group (Department of Computer Science, Oxford), as a Research Assistant in Computational Cardiac Electrophysiology with Prof. Blanca Rodriguez, funded by the EU preDiCT project and later by Prof. Rodriguez’ MRC award. In February 2012 he joined the Oxford Collaborative Centre for Applied Mathematics, developing innovative frameworks to describe electrical propagation in cardiac tissue. And now he is back to the Department of Computer Science, where he continue collaborating with Prof. Rodriguez funded by her Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship in Biomedical Sciences.

Research Intrest

Alfonso Bueno-Orovio  use an integrative approach to cardiac electrophysiology research, combining clinical and experimental data, modelling and simulation, to investigate cardiac arrhythmias and possible therapeutic targets.
