Zhongkai Liu received his BS in Physics from Tsinghua University in 2006 and PhD in Physics from Stanford University in 2014 under the supervision of Prof. Zhi-Xun Shen. He worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Diamond Light Source, UK from 2014 to 2015. He joined the School of Physical Science and Technology at ShanghaiTech University as a tenure-track assistant professorã€PI in July 2015.
My major research focuses on characterizing the electronic structure and understanding the emergent phenomena of advanced material with Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) (both synchrotron facilities-based and lab-based). Some current material systems of interest include topological quantum materials and novel iron based superconductors. Meanwhile, I am developing the next generation multi-dimensional (with Spatial, Spin and Temporal resolution) ARPES at ShanghaiTech University and Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
