Biography

Zhang Tong is a professor of civil engineering at the University of Hong Kong. He has been a Distinguished Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of Southern China since April 2017 and Director and Chief Scientist of the Research Center for Resistance Genomics and Antibiotic Environmental Pollution Prevention and Control of Southern University of Science and Technology. The main research direction for the biological treatment of sewage and environmental microorganisms, especially biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal, biodegradation of emerging pollutants, antibiotic resistance genes in sewage and pathogens detection. As the project leader, the Hong Kong Research Grants Council received eight grants, as well as two Natural Science Funding, three Hong Kong Environmental Protection Funds and two Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Funds. There are 15 projects that work with others, including the NSF International Research and Education Cooperation Fund, the Stanford University Bio-X Seed Fund, and the Swiss National Research Program. In the ISME Journal, Environmental Science & Technology, Water Research, Bioinformatics and other academic journals published 200 academic papers, including ESI high cited papers 11, H index 54 (Google Scholar), a total of 9300 times (Google Scholar) The Access to China and the United States a patent, co-author of a book. From 2011 to 2014, he was appointed as a special advisor to the "Big Gene" environmental microbiology and environmental biotechnology. He was appointed as a professor at Nanjing University from 2013 to 2016.
