Wendell O’Neal, Ph.D., DABCC is a Senior Analyst with Health Care Development Services, Inc. He has an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Southern Illinois University, and graduate degrees in Clinical Biochemistry from the University of Rochester and Loyola University of Chicago. In addition to his position with Health Care Development Services, Inc., Dr. O’Neal is President of The WHISK Group, a clinical laboratory management consulting firm. He previously served as Vice President of one of the largest consolidated hospital laboratory systems in the U.S. and following the sale of that laboratory to LabOne, held senior positions there. Prior to that held senior positions at SmithKline Beecham Clinical Labs, Dupont Diagnostics, and community, academic and government hospital laboratories. Dr. O’Neal’s special areas of interest include management of complex organizations, regulatory affairs, technical oversight, business planning, and personnel development. Dr. O’Neal is a member of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, and the Clinical Laboratory Management Association. He has published in Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Management Review, and numerous newsletters. He has been a featured speaker at Clinical Laboratory Management Association and American Association for Clinical Chemistry national meetings, Lab Institute, and numerous regional and national meetings. He was a charter member of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee.
