Professor Pediatrics
Biography

Professor Hervé Walti is a pediatrician specialized in neonatology. He is also director and head of the Department of Pediatrics and a member of the Mother-Enfant axis of the Center de recherche clinique Étienne-Le Bel of the Center Hospitalier Universitaire de Sherbrooke and the Mère-Enfant Research Center of the Université de Sherbrooke. Dr. Walti's research interests are directly related to his clinical expertise in neonatal intensive care, particularly in the most severe neonatal respiratory distress.

Research Intrest

Dr. Walti's work focuses on the development of an innovative respiratory support technique for newborns who have respiratory distress that is refractory to conventional mechanical ventilation techniques. This technique, the total liquid ventilation (VLT), uses a perfluorocarbon, a breathable liquid, to ensure gas exchange. It requires the development of a dedicated fan.
